What we will cover during the Onboarding Process

How to Sell Food Safety Training Ethically and Effectively.

How to Sell Food Safety Training Ethically and Effectively.

Informal Food Traders play a vital role in feeding South African communities. They work long hours, face daily challenges, and often receive little support. This is why selling training must be respectful, honest, and focused on benefits that traders can feel immediately.

In this onboarding course, you will learn how to build trust, communicate with empathy, and invite traders into training in a way that supports their realities while still allowing you to earn fairly as an FOHESA Rep.

How to present the course confidently and honestly.

How to present the course confidently and honestly.

You will learn to introduce the course calmly and professionally, focusing on being helpful instead of sales oriented. This includes what to say in the first 30 seconds, how to explain what the course covers, how long it takes, what traders receive upon completion, and what support FOHESA provides.

You will also learn what not to promise, so your message stays truthful and protects FOHESA’s credibility.

How to communicate value in simple, relevant language.

How to communicate value in simple, relevant language.

You will learn to explain the value using everyday language and examples from a trader’s workday. This includes linking food safety to fewer customer complaints, fewer food spoilage losses, better hygiene habits, stronger customer trust, and a more professional reputation.

The aim is to help traders immediately see that food safety is not “extra work” — it is a practical way to protect income and customers.

How to handle objections respectfully.

How to handle objections respectfully.

You will learn how to respond calmly when traders raise common concerns like “I don’t have time,” “I can’t afford it,” “I’ve been doing this for years,” or “I don’t trust online training.” You will practise listening first, validating their situation, and then offering simple options and solutions (like flexible pacing, quick phone support, and realistic completion timelines).

The goal is never to argue, but to guide and support.

How to close sales without pressure, fear, or manipulation.

How to close sales without pressure, fear, or manipulation.

You will learn how to invite a decision in a way that keeps the trader in control. This includes offering a clear next step, summarising the benefits, confirming affordability options, and giving space to decide. You will also learn ethical follow-up: when to check in again, how to remind without pushing, and when to stop.

The close should feel like support, not pressure, because trust is what builds repeat referrals and long-term success.

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived.

It is what difference we have made to the lives of others.”
